Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q:

What is the class cancellation policy?

    A:

Each teacher is allowed two cancellation days which have already been accounted into the tuition. If the teacher cancels more than two classes, then there will be make-up classes that will be arranged

  • Q:

What if my child has never danced before? Will he/she fall behind?

    A:

Absolutely not! At AUM, we are committed to ensuring no student is left behind. We encourage students regardless of their dancing background/experience to join us. Our philosophy is to make every student feel confident about the choreography before moving forward. It is important to note however, that students are expected to practice at home to keep pace with class.

  • Q:

Can I stay with my child in class?

    A:

While we understand the parents` desire to stay during class, we strongly discourage it. Students tend to be more comfortable and less shy when they are interacting with the instructor and other students without being watched. However, we will have two parent watch days throughout the year, one in November and one in March, where you will get to sit in on the entire class, and see exactly what your child has learned.

  • Q:

Can I observe a class before I sign up?

    A:

Absolutely! The first class any student attends will be considered a trial class.

  • Q:

Can I join a class in the middle of the session?

    A:

At AUM, we have two sessions per school year (September – January & February – June). Students may join at the beginning of each session. We have a grace period of 2 weeks per session where we will continue to accept new students. After two weeks, all students interested will be placed on a waiting list and may join at the beginning of the subsequent session.

  • Q:

    How qualified are the teachers?

    A:

ALL the teachers at AUM have been selected with great thought. We are not looking for individuals who are JUST good dancers. Rather, we are looking for individuals that have a passion for dancing and kids. With the combination of the two, the teachers at AUM create dancers out of each and every student! The teachers attend regular workshops and classes to ensure that they stay current with the newest dance styles.

  • Q:

    What is the dance company?

    A:

The AUM Dance Company are teams of dancers, pre-junior, junior, and senior that have extra practices during the week in addition to their regular class, and compete at some of the larger scale competitions. Auditions for our dance company will be held in September!

  • Q:

What happens if my child misses a class?

    A:

If a student misses a class, the teacher will make sure that he/she is caught up with the choreography upon their return.

  • Q:

Is there a dress code for class?

    A:

Yes, at AUM we do enforce a dress code. The dress code is black pants (tights, leggings, sweat pants, etc) and the AUM Dance Creations T-shirt which will be given out in class at the beginning of October. The dress code will be strictly enforced. NO TANK TOPS or SHORTS are allowed.

  • Q:

Will the teacher change during the year?

    A:

No, we do not anticipate the teacher changing throughout the year, unless of course there is some unforeseen circumstance. We value the bonds that the teachers and students have and try to promote that throughout the learning experience.

  • Q:

    What are the tuition fees?

    A:

Registration fee: $50.00 for either payment option 1.5 hour classes: $900 (if paid in full), $1000.00 (if paid in installments: $500.00 at first session & $500.00 at second session). 1 hour classes: $650(if paid in full), $750 (if paid in installments: $350 at first session & $350.00 at second session)

  • Q:

How many students are in each class?
